Dodgers Searching For Pitching Help To Break Slump

July hasn’t been friendly to the Dodgers as they lost four games in a row, three coming from the Phillies while losing two of three to the Diamondbacks to kick off the month. The biggest reason for this slump is the injuries to the starting rotation as Clayton KershawTyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Walker Buehler are on the injured list. Also, top prospect Bobby Miller recently got demoted to the minors as he recorded a 9.87 ERA in his last four outings. These factors prompted the Dodgers to search for options to boost their rotation.

Garrett Crochet is being talked up as a possible solution. The lefty hurler owns a 3.08 ERA while punching out 146 batters in 19 starts. USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported that the Dodgers made an offer, but the White Sox “quickly rejected” the proposal.

On June 26, Jim Bowden from The Athletic reported that Tarik Skubal could be a target if the Tigers put him on the trading block. Skubal has developed into Detroit’s ace, with a 2.37 ERA while striking 132 batters in 18 games started, putting him in the running for the AL’s CY Young Award.

Former Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen expressed interest in reuniting with his former ballclub. Jansen is lights out for the Red Sox as he recorded 18 saves, 35 strikeouts and an ERA of just over two. The interest in a reunion stems from his love of the city of L.A.
