Chiefs’ Rashee Rice Faces Eight Charges For Multi-Car Wreck In Dallas

The Dallas Police Department issued an arrest warrant for Rashee Rice on Wednesday after the receiver allegedly caused a high-speed car wreck last week. The 23-year-old Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver faces eight charges relating to the incident.

Six of the eight charges against Rice are for “collision involving injury.” The other two are for aggravated assault and collision involving severe bodily injury.

The wreck occurred on March 30 when Rice, driving a Lamborghini SUV, and Theodore Knox, a 21-year-old driving a Corvette, caused a six-car accident resulting in multiple injuries. Rice and Knox did not stay at the scene to answer questions, but police found marijuana in both cars, along with various personal items and a Chiefs playbook.

Both cars were leased in Rice’s name, and he and Knox are the only two facing charges. All passengers and afflicted drivers will not be charged.

A few days after the incident, Rice posted on social media confirming that he was involved in the crash and was cooperating with investigators.

“Today I met with Dallas PD investigators regarding Saturday’s incident,” Rice said on April 3. “I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue cooperating with the necessary authorities.”

As of 2 p.m. ET on Thursday, Rice had not yet turned himself in. Dallas Police Department Chief Eddie Garcia did not comment directly on the charges against Rice and Knox.

“An investigation has no timeline,” Garcia said. “We will not be pressured and do what is right. Our men and women work to determine who is involved and how they were involved, conduct interviews, and gather evidence to build a solid case to hold people accountable for dangerous conduct in our city.”

Rice could face fines and even jail time if found guilty of any charges, jeopardizing his NFL career. In his rookie season last year, Rice made an immediate difference for the Chiefs and helped the team win its third Super Bowl since 2019.
