Broncos Strike Deal For Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle – Will The Big Swing Work?

The Miami Dolphins, who just signed quarterback Malik Willis, are sending their top wideout, Jaylen Waddle, and a fourth-round pick to the Denver Broncos in exchange for three draft picks.

Those draft picks include the 30th pick in this upcoming NFL draft, along with a third-round pick and a fourth-round pick. Waddle is set to undergo a physical with the Broncos on Wednesday before the trade is official.

Waddle, 27, spent five seasons with the Dolphins, totaling 5,039 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns. The former Alabama wide receiver was a staple of the Dolphins’ offense, but with a new regime in Miami, he gets a fresh start.

The Broncos have been quiet all offseason, being the only team not to sign a free agent, but they decided to make a big splash in the trade market, acquiring a new wide receiver for quarterback Bo Nix.

Waddle will provide a serious deep threat in the Broncos’ offense with his game-breaking speed, allowing Nix to have a dynamic wide receiver.

The Broncos’ offense struggled, finishing 29th this past season with 25% of their drives ending on three-and-outs.

Waddle joins a wide receiver room that includes Pro-Bowler Courtland Sutton, Pat Bryant, Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims Jr., Lil’Jordan Humphrey and Michael Bandy.

The former first-round pick of the Dolphins is without a doubt the most talented wide receiver that the Broncos have had since the late Demaryius Thomas.

The Dolphins now hold two first-round picks in the NFL draft and will almost certainly be targeting a weapon for Willis. They could target Arizona State wideout Jordyn Tyson or USC’s Makai Lemon with the 11th overall pick.
