:DAYTONA BEACH, FL - FEBRUARY 14: Chase Elliott, driver of the #24 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet, poses with his car after winning the Pole Award during qualifying for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on February 14, 2016 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Since the NASCAR season resumed, Chase Elliott has been near the top in every race he has competed in. On Tuesday, Elliott came out victorious winning Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series North Carolina Education Lottery 200.
With the win, Elliott also received $100,000 to donate for coronavirus relief. The money was a bounty by Kevin Harvick and Gander RV & Outdoors CEO Marcus Lemonis against Kyle Busch, who had one seven Truck Series races in a row prior to Tuesday’s race.
The irony of Elliott defeating Busch is that six days ago Busch wrecked Elliott’s car at Darlington. When asked about the win, Elliott said that beating Busch added a little something extra to his victory. “I do, for sure. He is good at anything he does. I was glad I had a chance to race him for the win. For us to go head-to-head for the win, and it felt good to come out on top. It doesn’t make up for Sunday, but it was fun.”
