Boston Bruins Dress Up As ‘Despicable Me’ Characters

As a way to show off their early Halloween spirit, the Boston Bruins visited Boston Children’s Hospital on Wednesday dressed up as various characters from the popular animated Dreamworks movie Despicable Me. Team captain Zdeno Chara dressed as Gru, while his teammates David Krejci, Torey Krug, Jimmy Hayes, and Tuukka Rask all dressed as Minions.

This trip to the hospital has become an annual tradition for the Bruins: last year, they arrived dressed as characters form the Disney film Frozen. Furthermore, this is just one example of the many charitable deeds that Boston’s hockey team has been involved with in recent years. They’ve also participated in the annual Cuts for a Cause event, in which the players cut their hair and donate all proceeds to Shawn Thornton’s Foundation, The Boston Bruins Foundation, and Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center. The players also give away jerseys to fans after the last home game of the season every year.

The Bruins just won their first home game of the season in a 6-0 victory over the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday. They have won four of their last five games, and are next set to play the Florida Panthers away on Friday.
