Bears Cruise to 16-6 Win Over Vikings Despite Losing Mitchell Trubisky [VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS]

When young quarterback Mitchell Trubisky went down with a left shoulder injury on the Chicago Bears’ opening drive on Sunday, fans everywhere held their breath as perennial backup Chase Daniel trotted out onto the field.

Daniel fit right into the Bears’ offense and led them to a 16-6 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. He also finished with a staggering pass completion rate of 73%. While the jury is still out about Daniel leading the team in the coming weeks, he certainly stepped up when called upon on Sunday. The backup QB went 22-30 for 195 yards and one touchdown to earn praise from head coach Matt Nagy.

Meanwhile, the Bears’ defense — led by stud linebacker Khalil Mack — put on an absolute showcase performance of their own. That defense was able to put immense pressure on Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins, who certainly did not look like the $28 million QB the Vikings were depending on.

Mack decimated any momentum the Vikings built up at the beginning of the second half when Minnesota got the ball first. The LB sacked Cousins and stripped the ball from him, a move that eventually led to a Bears field goal and increased the team’s lead to 13-0.

The stellar Bears’ defense also held Vikings running back Dalvin Cook to a measly 70 yards. Cook had run rampant through the NFL for the first three weeks and entered Sunday’s game as the league’s leading rusher.

The Chicago Bears currently sit at 3-1 on the year with a defense that has wreaked absolute havoc on opposing offenses. However, questions remain for them offensively — especially with Daniel as the signal-caller.

The Vikings fell to 2-2 on the year and will travel to New York to take on the Giants in Week five.
