Anthony Mason, 48, suffered a massive heart attack a few days ago and has had several surgeries in hopes to correct his ailing heart. The big man had a 13-year career that spanned six teams, most notably his five seasons with the Knicks, where he became an essential piece to Pat Reilly’s physical team. He even won the sixth man award in 1995.
Mason was reportedly in the hospital for a routine heart inspection, when he had the massive heart attack, according to Peter Vecsey. He has had four surgeries since, with the last one taking over nine hours to complete.
