Andrew Wiggins Leads Minnesota Timberwolves To 100-95 Victory Over Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers added yet another loss to their losing record, effectively putting them at 0-15, following their 100-95 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night. The 20-year-old Canadian small forward is expected to become one of the league’s strongest players. He scored 32 points on Monday night, 11 of them in the final five minutes of the game, which was held at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

“He’s turning into an unbelievable player right before our eyes every night,” interim Timberwolves coach Sam Mitchell said. Wiggins was also fouled after a dunk late in the fourth quarter.

Kevin Garnett got eight points and 10 rebounds, and the Timberwolves (6-8) won at home for the first time in seven games this season. On Philadelphia’s side, Jahlil Okafor 25 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks. The Sixers struggled to stay ahead despite a 13-point lead in the first half and a five-point lead with 2:30 left. Philadelphia has now lost 25 straight games in total, including those from last season.

Jerami Grant also swatted a dunk attempt by Kevin Martin right into Wiggins’ hands.

“It’s not a moral victory,” Okafor said regarding the loss. “Ten games ago, we had some pretty close games that we lost. We are doing better, but we’re trying to get our first win.”

On Wednesday, the Timberwolves will next host the Atlanta Hawks, while the 76ers will visit the Celtics in Boston.
