Adam Thielen (WR) Returning To Vikings On Three-Year, $27M Deal

Adam Thielen Re-Signs With Vikings On Three-Year Deal

Despite recently losing Cordarrelle Patterson and Charles Johnson early in free agency, the Vikings made sure to keep their offense strong early in the offseason by re-signing wide receiver Adam Thielen to a three-year contract on Wednesday.

The deal is worth $27 million and includes $11 million guaranteed, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported.

Thielen, 26, was set to earn $2.7 million based on his restricted free agent tender. The wideout, who signed undrafted with the Vikings in 2013 after playing at Minnesota State Mankato, enjoyed a breakout 2016 season, beating out Stefon Diggs for the team lead in receiving yards with 967 (69 passes). He spent the 2013 season on the Vikings’ practice squad.

In Week 16 against Green Bay, he recorded 202 yards and two touchdowns on 12 receptions. Thielen also led all receivers with a 70.4 catch rate on deep targets.

With his extension, the fourth-year veteran will now receive a significant increase on last year’s salary of $600,000.

In other NFL news, the Baltimore Ravens traded starting center Jeremy Zuttah to the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday. The teams also exchanged sixth-round draft picks (No. 186 to Baltimore and No. 198 to San Francisco).

Zutah appeared in the Pro Bowl following the 2016 season and has some familiarity with Niners coach Kyle Shanahan’s offense, having played in a similar scheme under former Ravens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak in 2014.

Zuttah, 30, is under contract for two more seasons, with base salaries of $3.5 million each season.
