Aaron Rodgers, Packers Rout Raiders 42-24 As Officiating Issues Continue [VIDEO]

The Green Bay Packers finally put it all together in an impressive performance against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. The Packers dropped 42 points on Oakland thanks to five touchdown passes from Aaron Rodgers to secure a 42-24 victory in a game riddled with more officiating problems.

Green Bay has now won their third straight without top receiver Davante Adams. At 6-1 under new head coach Matt LaFleur, the Packers have looked much better than they have in the past three years and are now fighting for NFC seeding rather than a wild-card spot.

Rodgers’ top four receivers were a fifth-round draft pick, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and three undrafted players: Geronimo Allison, Jake Kumerow and Allen Lazard, Despite the not-so-star-studded corps, Rodgers completed 25 of 31 passes for 429 yards and six touchdowns, one of which he scored with his legs. The veteran QB earned a perfect passer rating.

The Packers defense worked on a “bend-don’t-break” mentality that kept the game out of reach for the Raiders. On two different drives, the Raiders were stopped inside the Packers’ five-yard line that got them no points, despite being on the precipice of the end-zone.

30 SPORTS FIGURES WHO DIED IN 2019 – TRIBUTE SLIDESHOW

The officials were still an issue in this game, as several penalties committed on both sides were questionable at best. Both teams were beneficiaries of some awful play-calling, even though it felt like the Raiders got the short end of the stick in that regard. There were multiple pass interference calls that looked nonsensical and touchdowns where the receiver stepped out of bounds on the route, which means these passes should have been called incomplete. However, these calls didn’t get overturned.

The 6-1 Packers will take on the 5-2 Kansas City Chiefs away from home on Oct. 27. Meanwhile, the 3-3  Raiders will fly to NRG Stadium in a bout against the 4-3 Houston Texans on Oct. 27.
