The USA team had an impressive first round of matches against the International team yesterday in the 2015 Presidents Cup with a huge 4-1 win in matchplay, that is currently being held at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Incheon, South Korea.

Match 1 saw USA members Bubba Watson and J.B. Holmes birdie four out of the first five holes with Internatational members Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama not getting a chance. Match 2 was the only win by the International team for the day with Louis Oosthuizen and Branden Grace getting three points on the last eight holes over USA members Matt Kuchar and Patrick Reed. Match 3 consisted of Rickie Fowler and Jimmy Walker, who were partners in last year’s Ryder Cup, commanding over Anirban Lahiri and Thongchai Jaidee with great putting skills and iron shots.

Match 4 had a star-studded match-up that went down to the final hole between USA members Phil Mickelson and Zach Johnson and International members Jason Day and Steven Bowditch. After an eagle putt by Day on No. 17, Mickelson hit a whopping 357-yard tee shot and Johnson hitting the green in quick fashion. The International team needed an eagle but came up short, solidying the match win for the USA team. Match 5 had another star-filled USA team in Dustin Johnson and Jordan Spieth crushing the other side in Marc Leishman and Danny Lee, mostly on the back nine giving the International team no chance of catching up.

With three more days and the USA team already hopping ahead of the International team, No. 3 player in the world Jason Day & Co. have a lot of ground to cover to stay within the reins for the prestigious award.
