The Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos have long been known to disdain each other, and NFL fans were reminded on Sunday.

Raiders wide receiver Michael Crabtree and Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib exchanged fists just three minutes into the Raiders’ 21-14 victory in Oakland, and were subsequently ejected. Also dismissed was Raiders offensive guard Gabe Jackson, who reportedly made contact with an official. An all-out-brawl ensued, and Crabtree’s helmet even came flying off.
Marshawn Lynch guided Talib through Oakland’s sideline and away from the field, per NFL Network’s James Palmer.
Following the contest, Chris Harris Jr. claimed Crabtree sucker-punched him during the play prior to the fight.
According to ESPN.com’s Kevin Seifert, Sunday’s three ejections bring the season total to 13, which ties the record for most ejections in an NFL season since 2001.
Denver7’s Troy Renck noted the history between Talib and Crabtree:
Renck was referring to the Broncos’ 24-6 victory in Week 17 last year, during which Talib ripped a gold chain off Crabtree’s neck, which led the nine-year wideout to strike back.
“It was too much,” Crabtree told reporters then. “You see the dude and what he’s doing in front of me. What do you want me to do? I can’t react, or they kick me out of the game and I’m the bad guy. I made a business decision for my team.”
Oakland (5-6) and Denver faced off earlier this season, in Week 4. The Broncos (3-8) won 16-10, but Crabtree missed the game due to injury.
NFL pundits and fans alike all seemed to agree that it was no surprise these two teams were intensely sparring again. Some even mocked the squads for having mediocre quarterbacks or for their poor fighting skills.
The NFL will review the case to see if any players receive suspensions, although according to some sources, no bans are expected.
