Real Madrid Reportedly Offering One Of Three Players In Trade For Manchester United’s David De Gea
Real Madrid are prepared to give up Toni Kroos, Luka Modric or Karim Benzema in a trade deal for Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, according to Spanish outlet Don Balon.
Manchester United’s David de Gea could be traded to real madrid for one of three players
However, Jose Mourinho is reportedly not interested in any of the three Madrid players. Per Don Balon and the Daily Star, United’s manager says he would prefer central defender Raphael Varane.
As for what de Gea wants, Spanish publication Marca reported the 26-year-old goalie, who is from Madrid, is open to joining Los Blancos.
The paper stated that a few weeks ago, the young Spaniard “asked United to sell him to Madrid” and said he hopes to move to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season. De Gea reportedly held a meeting with United to begin negotiating a transfer to Madrid and shortly after that meeting, on April 9, the goalie missed his team’s game against Sunderland due to a hip injury. The report adds that United will not accept any offer totaling less than £63 million ($81.60 million). Marca also claims Mourinho is most interested not in Varane but in English goalie Joe Hart, who is playing for Torino in the Italian league on loan from Manchester City, as a replacement for de Gea should the Spaniard leave.

Meanwhile, two other Real Madrid stars, midfielder James Rodriguez and forward Alvaro Morata, have been rumored in recent weeks to be potentially traded to United.
De Gea, who joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2011, has recorded 14 clean sheets in the Premier League this season and played 42 games in all tournaments. The goalie, who was named to the PFA Team of the Year earlier this month, delivered a stellar performance in United’s 0-0 tie at Manchester City on Thursday. The Red Devils are fifth in the Premier League with 64 points, and next host Swansea on Sunday.
Real Madrid previously attempted to sign de Gea in 2015 but failed due to technical issues with their fax machines.
In other Premier League news, Arsene Wenger has said he believes most people consider Tottenham Hotspur the favorite to defeat Arsenal at White Hart Lane in Sunday’s Premier League game.
“It’s certainly one of the few times where, if you look at people’s opinions, Spurs are favorites,” he said. “It looks a bit like that but it doesn’t matter too much to me. It’s true that always in our press conferences we have to respond, if the worst happens what do you do?
“You cannot say the weight of one year has the weight of 20. But let’s make sure that the best happens and give absolutely everything to make sure that we finish in a very strong way our season.”
Arsenal are sixth in the Premier League table with 60 points, while Tottenham are second with 74 points. Manchester City are fourth with 65 points and Chelsea lead the standings with 78 points.
Protests recently broke out in the streets of London, with Arsenal fans calling for the ouster of Wenger, who has been the Gunners’ manager for over 20 years. The 67-year-old Frenchman is rumored to have been recently offered a two-year contract extension.
Wenger has repeatedly declined to discuss his future with Arsenal, saying in a press conference ahead of Sunday’s game that it is “no distraction.”
