The Philadelphia 76ers sent power forward Ersan Ilyasova to the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday in exchange for center Tiago Splitter.

Sixers’ Ersan Ilyasova Traded To Hawks For Tiago Splitter

The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the exchange, which came the day before the NBA trade deadline.

Wojnarowski added the teams will also swap 2017 second-round draft picks as part of the deal. According to Wojnarowski, Atlanta’s second-round pick was previously acquired from the Miami Heat.

Splitter has yet to play this season due to calf and hamstring injuries, so taking on his expiring contract was the cost of doing business for the Sixers to take an extra second-round draft pick.

Ilyasova has played for five teams since the summer of 2015 and has been included in four trades. The 29-year-old Turkish star has averaged 14.8 points on 44 percent shooting for the Sixers this season.

The Hawks (32-24) are holding onto fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Philadelphia hopes to use Splitter, 32, as a mentor for their young centers the rest of the season.
