Commanders RB Posts ‘Please Tell Me It Was A Bad Dream’ Following Jayden Daniels Injury

Rachaad White of the Washington Commanders took to his X account this morning with the words “please tell me it was a bad dream” after the team lost its star QB, Jayden Daniels, to an elbow injury this past weekend against the Cowboys.

The star QB left Sunday’s game at the end of the first half after he fell awkwardly on his arm, bending his elbow out of place and causing it to give out.

Even though it was an arm injury, he had to be carted off the field in pain.

The initial updates were a good sign for Daniels and the Commanders, as the first X-ray showed no fracture. Head Coach Dan Quinn said more imaging was expected today. “I expect X-rays, I expect a CT scan, and I expect an MRI,” said professional expert Jesse Morse. He also said that he expects any ligament damage or tears to be “season-ending” for the 2023 Heisman Winner.

If Daniels is shut down for the year, Marcus Mariota will handle the QB duties for the foreseeable future, barring any moves by the team. He took over in Week 2 when Daniels got hurt. Mariota started his career in Tennessee with the Titans and showed early signs of being a good NFL QB, but his injury-riddled career has made him a full-time backup, and he has not started a game since December of last season.

White and Daniels played at ASU together, so the running back is speaking for all the team’s fans, and there’s also a personal connection to the QB. Daniels and White played there for two years.

It would be tough to see a road where Mariota could turn the season around for the Commanders, already starting 0-2, so the next update about Daniels’ injury is essentially make-or-break for their 2026-2027 campaign.
