Matthew Tkachuk remains the heart and soul of the Florida Panthers. Few NHL players combine skill, toughness and personality as he does. The Panthers star has become one of the biggest names in hockey, building a reputation as an elite offensive player and one of the league’s most difficult opponents.

His brother, Brady Tkachuk, was recently traded from the Ottawa Senators. In the deal, Ottawa received both of the Panthers’ first-round picks in Friday’s draft—the No. 9 and No. 25 selections. The move means both brothers will now team up in Florida.

The Panthers captured the 2024 Stanley Cup, defeating the Edmonton Oilers in a dramatic seven-game series. While Florida’s roster was loaded with talent, Tkachuk’s presence was viewed as one of the biggest reasons the team became champions.

His style of play separates him from many NHL stars. He’s not only a gifted scorer but also thrives as a passer and embraces the physical side of hockey. He battles on the boards, frustrates opponents and creates energy for teammates when they need a boost.

As Florida continues to chase more championships, Tkachuk remains central to the franchise’s success. His leadership, competitiveness and ability to rise in big moments have helped transform the Panthers into one of hockey’s premier organizations.

Whether fans love him or love to hate facing him, one thing is clear: Tkachuk is the type of player every team wants. Having him on your roster means you have a chance to win championships.
