NFL Sends Jaxon Smith-Njigba Wrong Trophy: ‘It’s Getting Disrespectful At This Point’
Seattle Seahawks‘ star Jaxon Smith-Njigba has another reason to feel pissed off.
JSN posted a video on his Instagram showing the trophy he should’ve gotten: the “offensive player of the year” was actually for the “defensive player of the year.” “It’s getting disrespectful at this point,” he wrote.
This is not the first incident this year in which JSN felt disrespected. Comedian Druski mispronounced his name on live television at the NFL award show days before the Super Bowl, saying the N-Word jokingly instead of saying his last name.
The Seahawks beat the New England Patriots in this year’s Super Bowl. JSN had the last laugh as he received a four-year $168.6 million contract extension that made him the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history.
Seattle will also open the year against the New England Patriots on Wednesday night, which should be very interesting.
His deal averages $42.15 million per year and includes $ 120 million guaranteed, both setting records for a wide receiver. Smith-Njigba is only 24, and he has career-highs in receptions (119) and receiving yards (1,973).
The Seahawks will look a little bit different this year, as Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker signed a three-year, $43 million contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.
