Belichick has earned six Super Bowl rings coaching the New England Patriots for as long as anyone can remember – 24 years to exact.

This morning, Belichick parted ways with owner Robert Kraft and the New England Patriots. Periodic meetings with Kraft throughout the week saw the two professionals come to a mutual, comfortable and forward-looking agreement with little to no conflict, per sources.

On Sunday, Belichick lost to coach Robert Saleh and the New York Jets 17-10, ending the season 4-13. That’s the worst record in his coaching career.

Speculation had grown throughout each of Belichick’s historic 13 losses and 4 wins about what his status with the organization would be.

Belichick has rarely discussed his contract with reporters, and he initially said that it’s still “way too early” to make major decisions or changes within the organization. Three days later and he is now unemployed.

“I learned a lesson from my dad growing up,” Belichick shared. “You work for the team that you’re working for and do the best you can do for it, until somebody tells you different. So that’s not going to change.”

The 71-year-old is expected to be hired by another NFL team in the offseason. Potential fits could include the Washington Commanders, who just parted ways with Ron Rivera, the Los Angeles Chargers, the Las Vegas Raiders.

In the meantime, many Patriots fans will wait for the release of a new documentary titled The Dynasty: The New England Patriots, which is expected to detail Belichick’s and Brady’s 20-year journey of six legendary championship seasons and more. The documentary will be released on February 16 exclusively on Apple TV+. It would be a fitting way for Belichick to part ways with the Patriots.

With newfound uncertainty in the head coaching position, this is the most exciting news for Patriots fans right now.
