New York Jets lineman Michael Clemons was ejected from Friday’s game after making contact with an official on the field. Miami Dolphins lineman Lester Cotton was also ejected from the game.

The Jets went on to lose the game 34-16.

The drama comes after the Jets made a change at quarterback – Zach Wilson was benched in favor of Tim Boyle.

It was the NFL’s first Black Friday game, which comes a day after the traditional Thanksgiving games.

Wilson, the Jets no. 2 pick, dropped down to third-string quarterback, with Trevor Siemian becoming second-string.

Robert Saleh, the Jets coach, says the change came down to trying different things for the team.

“Just to give him an opportunity,” Saleh said. “A different style of quarterback. So really it’s just to give him an opportunity and see if we can do something with the offense. All three will be up on gameday, Trevor will be the immediate backup.”

When asked if Wilson’s future is with the Jets, Saleh said that was too far in advance to consider.

“We’ll deal with [it] in the offseason, guys,” he said. “Right now, it’s really just about Miami.”

Prior to being benched in the third quarter during the Jets’ 32-6 loss to the Buffalo Bills, Wilson had completed 59.2% of his passes for 1,944 yards for six touchdowns and seven interceptions. As a starter, Wilson has an 11-20 record.

In his three starts, Boyle has no wins. He was 7 for 14 for 33 yards and an interception during the Jets game against the Bills.
