Manchester United Transfer News: Romelu Lukaku Talks Rumors Of Reunion With Jose Mourinho

Everton Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku has stated that he would have no problem re-teaming with Portuguese football manager Jose Mourinho in the future as speculation regarding a summer transfer, potentially to Manchester United, persists.

Mourinho sold Lukaku, 22, to Everton–nicknamed the ‘Toffees’ — from Chelsea in 2014 for 28 million pounds, and Lukaku has since established himself as one of the best young strikers in the Premier League.

In an interview with Belgian publication La Derniere Heure, the young Belgian said there’d be no tension between the two if they were to link up again:

“Some people will say that I need to convince him but it’s not a question of that, said Lukaku. “Three years ago I was 20 and I wasn’t ready to be immediately effective in a top team. Several good seasons, including the current one, have changed the situation. I’ll be 23 (in May) and I could leave this summer.”

Lukaku’s father, Roger, also told Belgian publication Het Laatste Nieuws that “there is interest from Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Chelsea and Manchester United” in his son and that “I think he must choose Manchester United or Bayern Munich.”

Mourinho has been strongly rumored to replace current Man U manager Louis van Gaal at the end of the season, which means he and Lukaku would reunite if the latter were to end up there.

Spanish newspaper El Pais reported that the club has already signed a pre-contract with Mourinho.

Since leaving Everton, Lukaku’s gameplay has improved significantly. His goal-scoring abilities are one of his characteristics that have stood out the most.

United could also strongly benefit from a forward like him. Alongside fellow youngster Anthony Martial, Man U could certainly bolster their attacking game if they were to bring him in.

Everton proved they can be stubborn negotiators in the transfer window, as they batted away continued pursuits of John Stones from Chelsea last summer.

Given all this, and that Lukaku’s interest in United has been confirmed, the two seem like a very good match.
