Remember how your first MySpace friend was always Tom from Myspace? Well Tom Anderson, the website’s co-founder, thrust himself back into public consciousness on Wednesday by offering to pay Tim Lincecum‘s salary if the San Francisco Giants re-sign the veteran pitcher.

Lincecum was at his prime during MySpace’s heyday but his production has understandably tailed off in recent years; he’s currently an unrestricted free agent and it’s unknown whether any team has much interest in signing him. And, with the additions of Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija this offseason, there may not be much room for him in the Giants’ rotation. 

Regardless of if the club resigns him, has been one of the most central players to the Giants’ recent run of success. If nothing else, he’ll be remembered as someone great and influential during the early 2000s, just like Tom from Myspace.
