The Philadelphia Phillies will host the New York Yankees on Monday night, and here is what you need to know.
This is the opener of a three-game series. The Yankees (50-25) are coming off three straight losses after a series with the Tampa Bay Rays. The Phillies (41-34) last lost to the Washington Nationals on Sunday.
Starting for Philadelphia will be right-hander Vince Velasquez (5-7, 4.82 ERA), who counts 97 strikeouts this season. He will face off against fellow righty Jonathan Loaisiga (1-0, 31.12 ERA), who has struck out ten batters this season.
