Yankees’ Oswaldo Cabrera Suffers Leg Injury, Leaves Stadium in Ambulance

New York Yankees third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera was taken off the field in an ambulance after suffering a leg injury during the Yankees’ 11-5 win over the Seattle Mariners.

Cabrera injured his leg during an awkward slide at home plate in the ninth inning. Cabrera was heading toward home plate to score the final run of the game on an Aaron Judge sacrifice fly.

Cabrera appeared to be seriously injured almost immediately after starting his slide.

“He shows up every day with the right attitude,” Yankees center fielder Trent Grisham said. “He plays the game hard. We just love him.”

Grisham wiped a tear off his face as he was giving his post-game interview.

Cabrera had a brace placed on his left ankle before being put on a stretcher and leaving in an ambulance. At this time, there is no update on Cabrera’s condition.

Despite the gruesome injury, Cabrera remained in high spirits on the field.

“Right before he got carted off, he called me over and said, ‘Hey, did I score?'” Judge said. “So, just kind of shows you what type of guy he is.”

The Yankees continue their series in Seattle on Tuesday night.
