Will Ferrell Will Play All Nine Positions During Five Cactus League Games
Will Ferrell has decided to play all nine positions in one day of Cactus League games, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale. The celebrity, who has been in several sports comedies, decided to do this feat in five of the eight scheduled games in Arizona, honoring what Bert Campaneris did five decades ago — he played all nine positions for ten different teams in one day.
Now, while Ferrell is known for crazy sports stunts, this one is for a good cause. He has teamed up with the MLB and HBO to film a special about this latest feat, which will hopefully raise awareness for cancer.
Supposedly, the five games are Seattle Mariners at Oakland Athletics (HoHoKam Stadium), Chicago Cubs at Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (Tempe Diablo Stadium), Cincinnati Reds at Arizona Diamondbacks (Salt River Fields at Talking Stick), San Francisco Giants at Chicago White Sox (Camelback Ranch) and Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres (Peoria Stadium), according to the Chicago Tribune.

Ferrell will reach each stadium via helicopter and each game’s start time has been staggered to take in account his travel time.
“Given his enormous popularity, we think Will Ferrell’s appearance in our spring training game against the Giants will be a fun and entertaining experience for our fans,” stated Jeff Overton, the president and general manager of Camelback Ranch. “It’s for a great cause — the fight against cancer — and he is sure to deliver a few laughs during his memorable visit to Camelback Ranch.”
