Why Are The Steelers Still Waiting On Aaron Rodgers?

The Pittsburgh Steelers are still awaiting a decision from future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, as the team’s voluntary minicamp begins.

New Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy is operating with Will Howard as the starting quarterback, as they wait for a decision from Rodgers. Howard is one of two quarterbacks under contract for the Steelers, along with Mason Rudolph.

Steelers general manager Omar Khan has said that the team has continued to have “positive” conversations with Rodgers about a potential reunion with his former Green Bay Packers head coach.

The Steelers also did not pursue a quarterback during free agency, which could mean the team is confident that Rodgers will return for a 22nd season.

Rodgers led the Steelers to the playoffs last season, winning the AFC North before losing in the wildcard round to the Houston Texans. The Steelers decided to move on from long-time head coach Mike Tomlin, paving the way for McCarthy to be the next Steelers head coach.
