Well-Fueled No. 22 Indiana Beats Michigan With 28-0 Run

The 22-ranked Indiana Hoosiers defeated the Michigan Wolverines 80-67 at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Mich., on Tuesday night, and the most surprising part of the game was undoubtedly Indiana’s comeback.

The Hoosiers trailed early by 11 points, and then went on a wild 28-point run, 25 of which came in the final 9:05 before the end of the first half, to gain the lead in the first half. This was a major victory for them, largely because it was a road win over a Michigan team that still has a chance to make the NCAA tournament.

Indiana is now 19-4 and a Big Ten-best 9-1, while Michigan fell to 17-6 and 7-3 in the Big Ten. Hoosiers point guard Yogi Ferrell scored 17 points and had nine assists. Robert Johnson added 16 points for Indiana, and Zak Irvin led Michigan with 16 points.

“I think we kind of panicked, guys started putting their heads down, I think that’s been a problem in all of our losses,” said Irvin, who scored 13 points in the second half. “We’ve got to learn from that, we’ve got to grow especially with the stretch we’re about to go on. Every game we have left in the season is going to be tough.” The Wolverines struggled throughout the game, finding themselves unable to score in the last nine minutes of the first half.

Indiana will next visit Penn State on Saturday, while Michigan will host in-state rival Michigan State (No. 10) on Saturday night.
