Watch: Eric Gordon’s 3-Pointer At Buzzer Lifts Rockets To 105-102 Win Over Sixers
Eric Gordon drove the Houston Rockets wild on Wednesday night by sinking a buzzer-beating three-pointer to propel his team to a 105-102 road victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.
Eric Gordon 3-pointer, Rockets vs. Sixers
With less than seven seconds left, James Harden passed to an unmarked Gordon in the corner, and the 28-year-old shooting guard launched the 3 to give the Rockets (4-1, 3rd in Western Conference) their fourth win of the season.
Gordon — the 7th overall pick out of Indiana in 2008 — is in his second season in Houston, after five years with the New Orleans Pelicans and three seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Gordon took 16 3-pointers (hitting five) on the night, but none was bigger or more difficult than his last. Robert Covington and Joel Embiid both attempted to block him.
The Sixers (1-4) were missing this year’s No. 1 overall draft pick Markelle Fultz, a 19-year-old point guard who will also miss the team’s next two games due to shoulder discomfort.
Meanwhile, Houston was without starters Chris Paul and Trevor Ariza. Gordon (29) and Harden (27) combined for 56 points.
J.J. Redick (who finished with a team-high 22 points) missing a pair of 3s and Jerryd Bayless being forced into a terrible shot after Simmons dribbled down the clock on Philly’s final possession.
After Gordon’s shot went in, Harden went on the floor and ecstatically began waving his arms.
It was certainly a great night for Houston teams, as the Astros beat the Dodgers in Game 2 of the World Series.
The Rockets next visit the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night, while the Sixers will visit the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.
