Washington Capitals’ Brooks Orpik Nailed With A Beer After Overtime Win Against Islanders

In a situation that is eerily similar to “the magical spit,” Capitals player Brooks Orpik was nailed by a full beer during the team’s postgame celebration.

The New York Islanders lost a tough one at the Nassau Coliseum yesterday, giving up a cheap overtime goal to Nicklas Backstrom. And the folks on the island, who are known for being a hostile crowd, were not happy. When the Islanders are winning, their supporters are eerily reminiscent to Philadelphia fans, meaning watch your head if you are an opposing player or fan.

Just read the open letter from a Caps supporter to the Islander fanbase.

That is why the actual beer being thrown is the least surprising thing to happen in the 2015 NHL Playoffs. As previously established, hockey fans are crazy and the supporters out on the island just happen to occupy a distinct level of that craziness. And this comes from an Islander fan.

With this said, the best part of the video is Ward’s cat-like reflexes, letting Orpik take the brunt of the beer.

The next game in this very chippy tied series (2-2) is Thursday night in Washington.
