Warriors Win 15th Straight Win 118-105 Victory Over Denver

The best team in basketball is now in the history books, but they’re still looking for more.

The Golden State Warriors tied both the 1948-49 Washington Capitals and 1993-93 Houston Rockets for the best start to a season by winning their 15th straight game on Sunday night. Klay Thompson potted 21 points and the entire team is understandably feeling great about their play.

“It’s kind of a quiet confidence that we don’t feel like we’re going to lose anytime soon,” Stephen Curry said. “The way we’re playing, we can get even better.”

That’s not something the league wants to hear from the defending champions; in addition to getting the results, their opposition has been impressed by what they’ve seen. It’s one thing to grind out wins, but the Warriors have been doing it with style.

“They’re the best team in the world. It’s a difficult task,” said Denver’s Nikola Jokic after the defeat “In some parts of the game, we could defend them, and in other parts, no. I mean, they just need three, four minutes, and they’re up by 15, so we need to play defense all the time.”

Understandably the Warriors are pleased by their start but know there’s a bigger goal to focus on. “It’s a huge accomplishment,” Curry said of tying the record. “Obviously, coming off a championship and taking care of business 15 straight times to start the season — couldn’t ask for a better start.”

“Whether or not we get it, it really doesn’t affect our ultimate goal of trying to win a championship,” interim head coach Luke Walton added. “It would be something nice to get along the way.”

Golden State will go for the record on against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night.
