Tennis legend Rafael Nadal bid a heartfelt goodbye to his devoted Spanish fans as he brought his storied career to a close at the Davis Cup in Malaga on Nov. 19.

The 22-time Grand Slam winner drew a line under his 23 years as a pro after Spain lost their Davis Cup quarter-final to the Netherlands.

Nadal announced last month via social media that the Davis Cup would be his final event.

“The reality is that it’s been some difficult years, these last two especially,” he said. “It’s obviously a difficult decision, one that has taken me some time to make. But, in this life, everything has a beginning and an end.”
