Urban Meyer On J.T. Barrett: Forfeited Scholarship
Ohio State Buckeyes Head Coach Urban Meyer spoke to the media on Thursday for the first time since starting QB J.T. Barrett was arrested early Saturday morning for a DUI, and subsequently suspended.
Barrett will not be playing in the upcoming game against Minnesota, which means that backup QB Cardale Jones will be back in the starting position just one game after losing the job. Jones is 3 inches taller, more heavyset (by 25 pounds), 1,266 pass yards (vs. 472), despite less rush yards. (128 vs. 329)
Meyer also stated that Barrett has officially forfeited his scholarship for one semester following his arrest, and that his status as captain is “subject to change.”
