North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye has announced he is headed for the 2024 NFL draft.

Maye took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to make his decision official.

“Thank you, Coach Brown, for the opportunity to live out my dream of playing quarterback in Carolina Blue,” he said.

During his two seasons as the starter for UNC, Maye became one of their best and most productive quarterbacks. He had 8,018 passing yards, 63 passing touchdowns and 79 total touchdowns.

Maye also led the ACC with an average of 300.7 passing yards and 338 total yards per game.

Several of Maye’s teammates have opted to join him in declaring for the draft, including wide receiver Tez Walker, offensive lineman Corey Gaynor, linebacker Cedric Gray and defensive lineman Myles Murphy.

Many project Maye to go top ten in the draft, with some saying he should go as high as number one.

Maye will not play in the Mayo Bowl versus West Virginia with Conner Harrell starting.
