Tottenham Knock Chelsea Out Of The Carabao Cup, Eric Dier Runs To Restroom Mid-Game

In the round of 16 of the Carabao Cup, Tottenham knocked Chelsea out after winning on penalties.
Chelsea started the game with a lead over Tottenham after new signing Timo Werner scored a goal. The Blues were favorites to win the game after creating many chances to score and defending very well.

Tottenham managed to grasp an equalizer in the last minutes of the game after Erik Lamela scored a goal assisted by new signing Sergio Reguilon. The draw between the two teams took the game to penalties.
The penalty shootout ended when Chelsea’s Mason Mount missed the shot and Tottenham were declared winners of the game after scoring all five penalties. While Chelsea are knocked out of the Carabao Cup, Tottenham will proceed to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Another major moment of the game was when Tottenham defender Eric Dier ran to the restroom in the second half and was quickly followed by Tottenham coach, Jose Mourinho. After the game Dier claimed that “There was nothing I could do about it. Nature was calling.”

Mourinho told the press after the game that Dier “had to go, but I was just trying to put some pressure on him to get him back for the remaining time.”

Many users comically reacted to this scene on Twitter, including football commentator Gary Lineker. Lineker tweeted, “ Strange scenes as @ericdier runs off the pitch to the dressing room, followed hastily by Mourinho. Then Dier runs back out to resume playing. Presumably he needed the loo. Players just don’t shit on the pitch anymore. What’s wrong with them?”

This scene does not distort the fact that Spurs did a great job to knock out a league favorite Chelsea even with the absence of one of their most important players, Son Heung-Min, who is out with an injury.

There are still other round of 16 matches that will determine who the Spurs will face in the quarter-finals.
