Tony Romo Leads Cowboys To Victory In His Return From Fractured Clavicle

It wasn’t pretty, but on a rainy afternoon in Florida Tony Romo‘s presence was enough to get the Dallas Cowboys get back in the saddle. His two touchdown performance helped his team break their seven-game losing streak and top the Miami Dolphins 24-14.

The tone was set from the Cowboy’s first offensive snap. Standing in his own end zone, Romo scrambled from the pocket before flipping the ball with his left hand for a short completion. “I didn’t envision after my two-month layoff coming back with a left-hander,” he said. “I did practice that about seven or eight years ago, so I was ready for it.”

“It gave me a shiver,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said of the play. “And I know it inspired the team.”

From then on, things only improved. Romo connected with both of his top receiving threats – Dez Bryant and Terrence Williams – for touchdowns and the Cowboys offense held onto the ball for nearly 40 minutes. “We looked like our old selves in a lot of ways,” tight end Jason Witten said.

Thanks to the weakness of the NFC East, Dallas only sits two wins behind the first place New York Giants. With their annual Thanksgiving Day game on the horizon, the Cowboys are hopeful that Sunday’s win will be the start of a push towards the playoffs.

“Winning,” Romo said, “is going to put a little more pep in everyone’s step.”
