Tom Brady Laughs Off Toe Injury As Patriots Prepare To Play Kansas City: ‘Isn’t There Some HIPAA Violation?’

Tom Brady laughed off his injury report that lists his elbow and toe ahead of the matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday.

“That might be the first time my toe’s ever been on the injury report. You know us Patriots. We’re pretty diligent about listing everything, so I guess we have to make mention of my toe now as well. Isn’t there some HIPAA violation or something like that, when I start talking about all my injuries?

I’m doing pretty good. At this time of the year, I’ll take it. I’ll take anything if I’m still able to go out there and feel like I can play my best. I’m feeling really good, really positive about this week. We have a really great challenge ahead of us,” Brady told ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

Brady has not sat out any games this season, but has started to shows signs of decline in year 20 of his career, now at the age of 42. His passer rating is currently 88.2. This is the lowest it’s been since 2013. Much of New England’s success is due to their defense which is ranked number two in the league only allowing 258 yards of total offense per game.

His last game against the Texans Brady threw three touchdowns and one interception for a total of 326 yards, but his completion percentage was a dismal 51%. His third straight game below 60 %.

Brady was seen yelling at Patriots’ receivers on the sideline and the team’s twitter page posted a video capturing the moment where Brady said, “Come on, let’s go grind this out. It ain’t gonna be easy. It’s gonna be all man (coverage). We’re not gonna be wide open.”

The lack of options on offense is also a factor of Brady’s moderate season stats consisting of 18 touchdowns and 6 interceptions with a completion percentage of 61 % through 12 games.

When asked about the game in Houston on WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show, Brady answered, “I think the expectations for our team often are at a very, very, very high level and I understand that, but at the same time I think there are realistic expectations with our circumstances incorporating different elements and players and injuries,” Brady said.

The offensive line has dealt with injuries all season, and the Patriots are on their fourth kicker after Nick Folk missed last game with an appendectomy. After being a full participant on Wednesday, Brady was limited in Thursday’s practice. Throughout his career he has only missed 19 of 279 regular season games including four games missed for suspension.

The Patriots look to bounce back when they host the 8-4 Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. The Chiefs are coming off back-to-back wins.
