Tiger Woods To Play In Wyndham At Greensboro

Tiger Woods is trying to regain his play of old, as he is trying to qualify for the season-ending FedExCup playoffs by heading to Greensboro. After announcing last week that he was interested in playing in his week’s Wyndham Championship, he seems to have made up his mind.

While Woods may be excited to play, it may be tournament director Mark Brazil who is actually happiest that Tiger is playing.

It wouldn’t be a surprise though, if Woods isn’t happy to play, as his glory days are a long way off, and he recently fell to number 286 in the World Golf Rankings. And if that wasn’t bad enough, he also missed the cut at the recent PGA championships at the Whistling Straits, which is his third missed cut in a major tournament this year.

The games at Wyndham are currently the only places players who are behind in points to qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs.  While Woods has no prior experience playing in this tournament, he must place in the top two next week if he wants to experience a playoff berth.

Woods has 79 PGA tour wins and 20 European tour wins. This is coupled with his success at the Masters, US Open, and The Open Championship. He will need to channel is younger self if he wants to add to his already impressive history.
