Tiger Woods 14 Over At The Open, Misses Cut Tied At 149th Place

Tiger Woods’ amazing season came to an end on Friday, missing the cut for the sixth time in the past seven majors at The Open.

Woods carded a six-over 77 in round two at Royal Troon Golf Club, leaving him with a total 14-over 156 with the projected line cut being four over. The 15-time major champion finished tied with Ryan van Velzen for 149th place out of 153. Following the completion of round two, Denwit BoriboonsubJustin LeonardWyndham Clark and Todd Hamilton are notable names who finished below Woods.

“Well, it wasn’t very good,” Woods remarked. “I never really hit it close enough to make birdies and consequently made a lot of bogeys.” The 48-year-old added that he intends to compete in the PNC Championship in December while his next outing will be at the Hero World Challenge in Nassau, Bahamas.

Prior to Friday’s exit, the last time Woods finished 14-over par  was in 2015 – he didn’t make the weekend at the U.S. Open, British Open and PGA Championship. The three-time British Open champion kicked Friday off with a par on the first hole, but things turned south when Woods got a double bogey on the second hole. Je finished the round six-over.

“I’ve won two Open Championships here in Scotland, so I’ve always enjoyed playing up here,” Woods said. “I remember playing here way back in ’97. I’ve had some good memories here. I just wish I’d done a bit better.”

Fans are debating Woods’ future on the golf course after his embarrassing exit from Royal Troon. During a segment on Unsportsmanlike Radio, host Freddie Coleman said that “yesterday was one of the situations I don’t mind seeing Tiger on the golf course, but I don’t want to see him struggle like that.”
