Tennessee Titans’ Great Jurrell Casey Announces Retirement

Jurrell Casey is retiring after playing 10 seasons in the NFL, nine of which were spent with the Tennessee Titans. The news was announced by the Titans organization on Thursday.

Casey was drafted in the third round of the 2011 NFL draft out of USC before going on to become a five-time Pro Bowler. He is also a two-time Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee, recognized for establishing the Casey Fund and working with Project Return, both initiatives designed to reintegrate formerly incarcerated individuals. His 51 career sacks rank second in the Titans era (1999-present) behind Jevon Kearse.

The six-time defensive captain expressed gratitude for the opportunity provided by the Titans organization. “My career, it was amazing, just to have the opportunity to play this game,” he said. “It was beautiful. I always tried to play to the best of my ability, and always considered it an honor.”

“To be able to get drafted by Tennessee, and to be able to live out a lifetime dream is everything a young man from Long Beach, California could dream of. All the relationships that I made along the way, we had a brotherhood,” he added. “And Tennessee, it was a great place to call home for me and my family.”

Controlling owner of the Titans Amy Adams Strunk stated, “On behalf of our entire organization, I congratulate him on a fantastic career, and we will always consider him part of the Titans family. I look forward to seeing what is next for him because I know that no matter what is in store he will continue to make those around him better.”
