Late in the first quarter, TCU’s QB Trevone Boykin leaped over defenders and somersaulted into the end zone to score a touchdown vs. the West Virginia Mountaineers at home on Thursday night. The score put the TCU Horned Frogs up 14-0. West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen even high-fived Boykin after he was forced out of bounds on a scramble. Holgorsen’s first statement during his post-game comments was: “With all due respect to Corey Coleman, Trevone Boykin is the best player in college football.” The coach was referring to the Baylor Bears’ WR. Baylor (No. 2) defeated West Virginia 62-38 on Oct. 17, and Coleman caught 10 passes for 199 yards and three touchdowns.

The Horned Frogs, who are ranked fifth, won 40-10 Thursday night, which marked their 16th straight victory. Only Ohio State currently holds a higher winning record, with 21 consecutive victories. TCU’s record is now 8-0, and 5-0 in the Big 12 Conference. Boykin played a stellar game overall, with four touchdowns and 472 total yards. Coach Gary Patterson stated “I keep telling you just appreciate Trevone Boykin and Josh Doctson. They’re pretty special people.”

Boykin also broke TCU’s record for total offense with 12,041 yards. Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton held the previous record of 11,925 yards. The Frogs’ kicker Jaden Oberkrom also had a good game Thursday night: he scored four field goals, including a 57-yarder at the end of the first half, which put the Frogs up 23-10.

Frogs WR Josh Doctson stated about Boykin: “He’s just playing like a Heisman quarterback,” Doctson said. “Man, it’s crazy. I’m running around trying to see what he’s trying to do. Playing with him for three years, I kind of know which direction he’s going to go. Sometimes I go against the rules and just watch him and watch his eyes.”

One of Boykin’s greatest fans, a 7-year-old handicapped girl named Abby Faber, was also in attendance. Faber, who is an Iowa State fan, and her family were given a private jet by a TCU donor to fly in to the game. She was wearing Boykin’s No. 2 jersey, and got to meet the QB at the end of the game. Boykin knelt down and spoke to the girl in the wheelchair, and the photo quickly went viral. Faber also received a large ovation.
