Tampa Bay Eliminates Saints, Advances To NFC Title Game

Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Tom Brady with the hopes of becoming a contender in the league. Well, the signing has paid off as Tampa has punched their ticket to the NFC conference title game and one game closer to the Super Bowl.

The arrival of Brady brought immediate success for the franchise. For the first time in 13 years, the team made it to the playoffs. Now, the Buccaneers are back in the NFC conference championship game against the Green Bay Packers.

On Sunday night, the Buccaneers faced the New Orleans Saints led by Drew Brees. The Saints had swept Tampa Bay in the regular season and outscored them by 46 points in those two games. It was a tough matchup for both teams. The scoreboard reflected that same sentiment as the game remained tied in the second and third quarters.

In the fourth quarter, Tampas’ defense allowed them to score. Defensive linebacker Devin White picked off Brees as he threw a pass that was intended for Saints’ Alvin Kamara. That pick would result in a one-yard touchdown for the Buccaneers to give them the lead. Later in the fourth quarter, Buccaneers’ safety Mike Edwards picked off a throw from Brees that had been tipped by Tampa linebacker Lavonte David.
