Suns’ Devin Booker Squares Off Against Raptors’ Dinosaur: ‘We Homies Now!’
Rivalries in sports are nothing new. Usually, though, it’s between two human beings—whereas Devin Booker’s is with a species that went extinct about 75 million years ago.
Facing the Toronto Raptors Tuesday night, the Phoenix Suns star found himself squaring off with his opponent’s mascot—a person in a raptor outfit.
With 6.5 seconds left in the game, Booker was fouled and went up to shoot his free throws. Scotiabank Arena does not permit fans these days, but the home team still had a trick up its sleeve. The dinosaur mascot went behind the basket to distract him.
The shot ended with a little drama, as a visibly upset Booker asked the officials to move the mascot, which they did.

He proceeded to hit both free throws to seal the 99-95 win.
“We hashed it out. We homies now. We’re cool now, though,” Booker joked after the game.
The next meeting between the two teams is March 11 in Phoenix.
