Steph Curry is hoping to prove Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr wrong and return from his Grade 2 MCL sprain as quickly as possible, potentially by the opening round of the playoffs.
The two-time MVP sustained the injury in Friday’s victory over the Atlanta Hawks. That marked Curry’s first game back from a six-game absence due to an ankle sprain.

Kerr said there was no chance Curry could play in the opening round of the playoffs, and added the two-time MVP’s condition would be re-assessed in about three weeks.
Curry’s re-evaluation date is April 14th, three days after the season finale at Utah.
Curry, 30, added he will not travel with the team for the final five road games, and will rejoin them instead when postseason play begins.
In the third quarter of Friday’s game against Atlanta, teammate JaVale McGee elevated for a block attempt and ended up falling on Curry’s left leg. Curry immediately began hopping and then limping in pain.
Kerr added that he isn’t overly worried about the Warriors’ hopes for the playoffs, as the team has faced similar issues in the past. The Golden State coach specifically cited the time in 2017 when Kevin Durant sat out with an injury around the same time, near the end of the season.
Among the other Warriors to have recently been hit with injuries are Durant (ribs), Klay Thompson (hand) and Draymond Green (pelvic contusion).
