Drew Timme Scores 11 Points In First Lakers Start

Drew Timme made his first start for the Los Angeles Lakers in their game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Thunder won this game 123-87. Timme is currently on a two-way contract with the Lakers. He spoke about the experience of starting for the legendary franchise after the game.

“It was great. I’m not going to lie. I was like, really excited. Probably a little too excited, you know, starting for the Los Angeles Lakers. Like, it’s pretty cool,” Timme said.

Timme had a solid game for the Lakers with 11 points and three rebounds. Rui Hachimara led the Lakers in scoring with 15 points. Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves and LeBron James were all out for the Lakers.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led both teams in scoring with 25 and led the Thunder in assists with eight. NBA.com has Gilgeous-Alexander second in the MVP race, with Victor Wembanyama’s eligibility in question due to the 65-game rule. Isaiah Joe also helped the Thunder win with 18 points off the bench.

Timme was signed by the Brooklyn Nets toward the end of the 2024-25 season. He played in nine games and started in two. Timme had some solid games with the Nets, including 19 points and six rebounds against the Washington Wizards and 16 points and nine rebounds against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Nets had to get their roster to 18 players before the start of the 2025-26 season. Timme, along with former first-round pick Dariq Whitehead, was released by the Nets on Oct. 13, 2025.

A month later, Timme was signed by the Lakers. He’s played 24 games for the Lakers, but this was his first start.

The Lakers have three more games before the playoffs begin. They will play the Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz.
