Sidney Crosby Brings The Stanley Cup Back Home

It was the second time Sidney Crosby brought the Stanley Cup back to Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia.  The center for the Pittsburgh Penguins carried the Cup through the streets of Cole Harbour this past weekend. He was riding in the back of a white Ford truck that drove down Forest Hills Parkway up to the ice rink at Cole Harbour Place. There were over 30,000 fans to see the hometown hero.

Crosby even walked into a Tim Hortons with it, how very Canadian.

According to ESPN residence of Cole Harbour are petitioning to have the Forest Hills Parkway renamed after Crosby. It has been used for both of the Stanley Cup parade routes. “It’s a compliment. I’m flattered by it,” Crosby said.

The Penguins defeated the San Jose Sharks in six games of the 2016 Stanley Cup Finals.  Crosby finished the playoffs with 19 points (six goals and 13 assists) and was awarded the Con Smythe Trophy and MVP of the playoffs.

The last time the Cup came back to Cole Harbour was in 2009 when Crosby and the Penguins beat the Detroit Red Wings in the Stanley Cup Finals.  He was 21 years old when he won the Cup in 2009.
