Sergio Aguero Comes Out Of Slump In Win Against Newcastle
Argentina-based striker Sergio Aguero of Manchester City F.C. has been dubbed the top scorer last year for the Premier League as well as bringing a league championship to the club back in 2012 in a goal scored in the 94th minute of the championship game. You can say that the young footballer has a lot of accolades already under his belt at the age of 27.
This year has been a different story for Aguero because of the one goal in open play he scored and according to manager Manuel Pellegrini, doesn’t have the quick feet and sharpness that he has showcased in the past. That all changed this past Saturday in Manchester City’s match against Newcastle United when Aguero was a substitute in the 66th minute and ended up scoring five goals in the span of 22 minutes. He did the hat trick of scoring — right foot, left foot, and header — for his first three goals followed by a curling kick and back-post tap-in for his final goal.
“I am very happy for Kun,” Pellegrini said. “He deserves it. He is always a player who makes a difference. For different reasons in the last games he misses important chances but he was calm.”
