Seattles’ Josh Gordon Will Not Play, Added Back To Commissioners’ Exemption List

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Josh Gordon was expected to return to the field after being allowed.

However, that has changed, and he will not be playing for this season. Both the wide receiver and the team were notified that Gordon did not satisfy all of his terms for his conditional reinstatement. The 29-year-old wide receiver is still allowed to attend team meetings and individual workouts but is not allowed to play in practice or in games. He is now back onto the commissioners’ exemption list.

On Sunday, it was initially reported that the Seahawks’ wide receiver will be allowed to played the final two regular-season games. The 29-year-old reported to the team and was in great shape to return to the field for the team in an important divisional game against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Seahawks were excited as they have always had an interest in the wide receiver. Last year, he was claimed by Seattle from waivers and played in just five games for the team. In those five games, he recorded seven passes, and 139 yards before being suspended.

Gordon’s career has been heavily marked with repeated suspensions for substance abuse violations. He received his fifth suspension last year after he violated the League’s ped rules. He has since been on the Commissioner’s exempt list. There was hope that he would be able to play, but that has been dashed now.
