The San Francisco 49ers fell hard to the Seattle Seahawks at their own Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on Thursday night, in a game that ended 20-3. The Seahawks, who accumulated six sacks, bumped up their season record to 3-4, while the 49ers dropped to 2-5. This is the second consecutive season in which the 49ers have lost to the Seahawks at home. The Seahawks were leading 17-0 by halftime.

San Francisco WR Jerome Simpson was absent from Thursday night’s game. Simpson just recently returned from serving a six-game suspension, and has not played a game since the 2013 season. A traffic stop in July of last year due to violations of the NFL’s substance-abuse policy, the Minnesota Vikings released him in September. However, fellow WR Anquan Boldin, who hasn’t missed a game since joining the 49ers in 2013, is still set to play despite a hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions are gearing up to host the Vikings next Sunday amidst a long list of injuries. Safety James Ihedigbo was back at practice after sitting out Wednesday due to a quad injury. Defensive tackle Haloti Ngata and tIght end Eric Ebron also participated in a full practice this week, despite calf and knee injuries respectively. Tight end Brandon Pettigrew, who is suffering from knee and elbow pain, and concussed cornerback Josh Wilson, were also absent from practice yesterday.
