It appears Doug Baldwin will get his wish. After the 2016 NFL Draft concluded this past Saturday, the Seahawks’ receiver sent out this tweet:
While doing an interview with 710 ESPN Seattle’s Brock and Salk show, Seahawks’ GM John Schneider said he has had a conversation regarding Lynch’s number with the Seahawks’ former running back.
“One of my last conversations with Marshawn was that nobody was going to wear No. 24 this year in the regular season.”

Lynch responded to Baldwin’s tweet early Sunday morning:
While Lynch has yet to officially retire, he tweeted a picture of cleats hanging up during the Super Bowl, giving the impression that he is walking away from the game. Schneider says he expects to receive Lynch’s retirement papers soon.
If indeed “Beast Mode” has played his last game in the NFL, defenders around the league will be happy to hear it. Over his seven year career, that began in Buffalo, Lynch rushed for 9,112 yards, 74 touchdowns, and averaged 4.3 yards per carry. He became known throughout the league for his punishing running style and trucking defenders on a consistent basis.
He produced one of the most memorable runs in NFL history during the 2011 NFC Divisional Round against the New Orleans Saints which is number 1 on this list of his top career plays:
Lynch won Super Bowl XLVIII with Seattle in 2014 and also made headlines during media day for Super Bowl XLIV in 2015. Known to dislike talking to the media and having been fined for not talking to the press, he answered every question with the same answer “I’m just here so I won’t get fined.”
