Bobby Wagner made quite an impressive play in Glendale on Sunday night, leaping over Arizona long-snapper Aaron Brewer to block a 39-yard field goal attempt by Chandler Catanzaro in the second quarter of the Seattle Seahawks’ 6-6 overtime tie against the Cardinals.
Seattle’s Stephen Hauschka missed his own field goal, a 27-yarder that went wide left with seven seconds remaining, while Catanzaro’s 24-yarder bounced off the left upright. Catanzaro scored field goals of 46 and 45 yards.
The last tie in the NFL came in 2014, when Carolina and Cincinnati tied 37-37.

The Cardinals (3-3-1) dominated the game statistically, and seemed poised to win it after Carson Palmer’s 40-yard pass to J.J. Nelson set up Catanzaro’s short kick.
The Seahawks (4-1-1), halted through regulation by the Cardinals defense, took over and Russell Wilson completed passes of 31 yards to Jermaine Kearse and 27 yards to Doug Baldwin to give Houschka his short attempt.
Both kickers scored field goals on their respective teams’ first possession of overtime.
On linebacker Wagner’s first-half block of Catanzaro’s kick that kept the score at 0-0, Cardinals coach Bruce Arians was baffled by the call and even lost a timeout trying to throw a challenge flag for a non-reviewable call by the officials.
Wagner’s feet clipped Brewer’s back during the snap, but he cleared the long snapper otherwise. This, according to NFL senior vice president of officiating Dean Blandino, is not against the rules.
Nevertheless, former Cardinals kicker Jay Feely noted that Wagner seemed to use his arms to help launch himself over Brewer.
Following the game, Arians remained unhappy with the non-call.
“He touched him,” the coach said of Wagner. “You saw it. Did you see it? Didn’t he touch him? Yeah, he sure did. It sure looked like it to me, but it was not ruled that way, same with the last one (overtime miss).
“He definitely touched him. I’m sure I’ll talk to the league and we’ll get some kind of explanation that is all [expletive], like normal.”
The Cardinals will next visit the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, while the Seahawks will visit the New Orleans Saints that same day.
