Safety Damar Hamlin & Bills Agree On A One-Year Deal

The Buffalo Bills are re-signing fan favorite safety Damar Hamlin to a one-year contract, keeping him in Buffalo.

Hamlin’s 2025 season was cut short due to injury, only played in five games after suffering a pectoral injury that required surgery.

Hamlin is the third safety the Bills have signed this offseason, also bringing in C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Geno Stone to solidify the safety room.

The Bills drafted Hamlin in the sixth round of the 2021 draft out of the University of Pittsburgh. He has been a backup and special teams player primarily, but saw an increase in playing time in 2022 before suffering cardiac arrest against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football.

In 2023, Hamlin was knocked unconscious and left in critical condition after a hit during a game against the Bengals.

Hamlin, 28, was medically cleared to return to football in 2023 and eventually became a starter for the Bills in 2024, starting 14 games and posting two interceptions.

The Bills have major goals for 2026. After moving on from Sean McDermott and promoting Joe Brady to head coach, they have one thing in mind: get Josh Allen to a Super Bowl.
